Ioannis Drymonakos: Doper?

The Olympics’ war on drugs claims another “victim” — Greek swimmer Ioannis Drymonakos who tested positive for methyltrienolone, a banned steroid. If this trend continues, we just might come up with a Hall of Shame listing the names of Olympians whose performances are drug-enhanced.

Ioannis is ranked second in the world in the 200-meter butterfly. He is also the European record holder for said event.

Weird

Did you know that some events in the Winter Olympics have a very small number of “practitioners”? This is according to a group of women ski jumpers which is planning to sue the Vancouver Organizing Committee to have women’s ski jumping included in the Vancouver Olympics. From AP:

Supporters of women’s ski jumpers argue there are 135 women ski jumpers in 16 countries. This compares to other sports already in the Games like snowboard cross, which has 34 women from 10 countries, skier cross, which has 30 women from 11 nations, and bobsled, which has 26 women from 13 nations.

Olympian to Watch: Veronica Campbell, Jamaican Sprinter

Will Jamaica’s Veronica Campbell win a sprint double in the Beijing Olympics? She is the defending champion in the 100 meters and she won a gold medal for the 200 meters in the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka, Japan.
