Rohanee Cox Goes to Beijing
Meet the newest member of our Dara Mama Club: Australian basketball player, Rohanee Cox. Here’s some info about Rohanee from olympics.com.au:
During the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) season in 2000, Rohanee Cox suffered severe anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage to her left knee. The injury looked sure to end her basketball career when two seasons later while playing for Perth, she damaged the same knee again.
“Back then, I never thought I would play basketball again,” Cox said.
“I lost my passion for the game and took much needed time out.”

Pistorius Saga: The Wise Words of Pierre Weiss
Jesus H. Christ. It sounds like those grumpy athletic officials really, really dislike Oscar Pistorius. How can you explain the following statement by IAAF General Secretary Pierre Weiss:
The decision by CAS (the Court of Arbitration in Sport which allowed Pistorius to compete with able-bodied runners) applies to all athletics events. But if he runs in the pack, there’s a risk that he or another athlete will fall.
Of course Pierre, it’s a running competition. There’s always the risk that a runner will fall. But it’s hard to see how Pistorius falling will be any different from any other athlete falling. Here’s Weiss and his very “wise” words again:
The South Africans have qualified without Pistorius and if they take him they are going to have to remove another relay runner. It’s a decision that rests with the officials of the federation and the South African Olympic Committee, but we’d prefer that they don’t select him for reasons of safety.

Yelena Gets Hotter Than Hot
Our Olympic hottie Yelena Isinbayeva keeps getting hotter and hotter. Translation: She just broke the world record in women’s pole vault.
Yelena, the “sex symbol of male couch potatoes”, vaulted 5.03 meters during the Rome Golden Gala meet last Friday to eclipse her previous world record by two centimeters.
Maybe she will break the record again in Beijing? Not unlikely. And those male couch potatoes will be cheering for her.

Ronaldinho’s Got Balls
Ronaldinho will still go to Beijing even if this means breaking his contract with Barcelona. Hah. Good for him. Maybe the other footballers, like Argentine Martin Demichelis, who are similarly being prevented by their clubs from playing in Beijing should follow Ronaldinho’s example.
Let’s see what those Olympic party-pooping club owners will do when their stars abandon them. Go, Ronaldinho!
