Here’s Carol Huynh’s gold medal bout for you “Carol-crazy” Canadians. The quality of the video leaves something to be desired but it’s the only one currently available at Youtube. I’m sure some good soul will upload a better video later. For the time being, enjoy this video and send a thank you message to Carol.
Our Canadian friends who’ve been gnashing their teeth because they’ve been medal-less for days will, I think, gnash their teeth no more. Canada now has three medals one of which is a gold medal courtesy of wrestler Carol Huynh who’s being carried above by her coach and some other guy Ah, the sweet tears of victory. Congratulations to you, Carol.
Oleksandr Petriv embodies the motto that goes, “A man should be part of his flag.” Anyways, Oleksandr won the gold medal in the men’s 25 meter rapid fire pistol bringing the Ukraine’s gold medal tally to four.
Isn’t it interesting that almost half of the gold medal harvest of the United States is produced (or co-produced) by Michael Phelps? Here’s the merman celebrating after winning his seventh gold medal in the men’s 100 meters butterfly.
Kudos to Kirsty Coventry for coming up with a nice description for her gold medal in the 200 meters backstroke, i.e., a “cherry on top”.
Would it be safe to assume that some children in her native Zimbabwe will be named “Cherry” or, the more interesting, “Cherryontop” to honor Kirsty’s victory? After all, when she won three medals in Athens 2004, many Zimbabwean babies were named “Kirsty”, “Coventry”, “Goldmedal”, and “Threemedals”.
Finally, another crying Olympian. Cesar Filho Cielo joins our list of crying Olympians which, so far, includes judo gold medalist Choi Minho of South Korea. Cry, baby, cry. You certainly earned the right to.
