Britta Heidemann: Naked and Victorious

Pardon me if I keep putting up photos of naked Olympians and Olympic hotties. I do it because most of you are asking for it and also because Olympians themselves wouldn’t mind getting naked for the sake of “art”. Like Germany’s fencing gold medalist Britta Heidemann for instance:
Anyways, there’s really nothing wrong with nakedness, is there? Clothes were invented by sweat shop capitalists like Nike who are now making tons of money because they totally convinced us that nakedness is unacceptable. Damn these capitalists. And they’re exploiting the children of Southeast Asia too.

Anyways, congratulations to Britta for winning a gold medal in Beijing.

Germany’s Benjamin Kliebrink Bags Gold, Bites Medal

Emo-haired German fencer Benjamin Kliebrink won a gold medal for himself and for Germany and, following the good old tradition of Olympic medal-biting, promptly bit the medal. Kliebrink beat Japanese Ota Yuki for the gold, in case you are wondering.

Here’s Benjamim celebrating his victory. I must say that the photographer deserves a medal of his own for shooting a picture that resembles a baroque painting by Caravaggio.

Mariel Zagunis Scores One Gold Medal for the United States

Now we’re talking. The China vs. United States race for gold medals is on. Fencer Mariel Zagunis saved the day for the U.S. when she “outsabered” her opponents to win the first gold medal for the U.S. The food they brought all the way from the U.S. must have helped, no?

Anyways, it was actually a clean sweep for the Americans because they also won the silver and the bronze medals for the event prompting an AP writer, Noah Trister, [I think he's American] to write, “Now, the US is the only country with three medals.”

Huh! Silly dude. Expect him to ignore the medal totals if the U.S. is doing better in the gold medal tally.

Poland’s Witold Woyda: Two-Time Olympic Gold Medalist, 69

We offer our condolences to the family and friends of two-time fencing Olympic gold medalist Witold Woyda. He passed away today.

From polskieradio:
Witold Woyda, one of the finest fencers in the history of Polish sport, has died in Bronxville, New York state, at the age of 69. Born in 1939, he took part in four Olympic Games, in 1960, 1964, 1968 and 1972.

He achieved his greatest success at the close of his career, winning two gold medals – in the individual and team foil tournaments – at the Munich Games in 1972. Woyda also had one silver and one bronze Olympic medals, as well as ten medals at the World Fencing Championships to his account.

Witold Woyda was a graduate of the Law Department at Warsaw University. His honours included the Knight’s and Officer’s Crosses of the Order of Reborn Poland and the ‘Best Polish Athlete’ title in 1972.

Country Report: Panama’s Beijing Bound Athletes

Panama’s Olympic bound athletes. It has three so far: Fencer Jesika Jimenez, long jumper Irving Saladino, and hurdler Bayano Kamani.

Saladino is the current world champion in men’s long jump. He won the gold medal during the 2007 World Championship in Osaka, Japan when he registered a jump of 8.57 meters in his last attempt.
