Olympians Behaving Badly: Scott Miller is a Drug Dealer?
Olympic silver medalist Scott Miller of Australia was arrested following a drug bust by authorities in Sydney.
Miller, according to Australia’s heraldsun, used to be the “pin-up boy of Australian swimming”. Unfortunately, if the charges stick and he’s convicted, he’ll be staring at pin-ups in a jail cell or something. You can read the report about Miller’s arrest here.
Ahh, Olympians, we admire them for their achievements but we have to remember that they are people too.

Runner to Watch: Kenya’s Janeth Jepkosgei
Janeth Jepkosgei won the 800 meters during the World Championships in Osaka, Japan last year. If she wins a gold medal in Beijing, she will be the first woman from Kenya to bag an Olympic Gold.
Will she beat her opponents, the heightened expectations of her people, and the pressure that comes with being the world champion? We don’t know. But we will be watching her event to find out.
You can read more about Janeth at wikipedia. Photo credit: AFP/Getty Images.

Photo of the Day: Nader al Masri
Aww. What a cute picture of daughter and dad. Nader al Masri, the dad obviously, will represent the state of Palestine in the Beijing Olympics. He is planning to run in the 5,000 meters. Like Dana Abdul Razzaz, he reportedly dodges bullets during training.

Olympic Medal Predictions: The Overall Winner
Who will emerge as the overall champion in the Beijing Olympics? According to Luciano Barra, the United States will retain its title while China will land in second place.
His projection, issued last December 2007, is as follows:
1. United States: 98 medals (47 gold)
2. China: 89 medals (38 gold)
3. Russia: 88 medals (32 gold)
Barra, an Olympic official from Italy, earlier predicted that China will top the gold medal race (China, 45; U.S., 41; and Russia, 34) but he revised his projection and came up with the one above.
Anyways, how did this Barra guy arrive at his numbers? It’s no rocket science, my friend, what he did pala is to look at the results in the most recent world championships. If there’s no world championships for a particular sport, he looked at the equivalent event for that sport.
